Affiliate Marketing Q&A

Question #1: Internet Security ( how do I down load)?

I have Kapesky internet security on my lap top and I keep getting a notice to renew it because I only have 10 days remaining I am an ameture at this kind of stuff, if I click on the renew button how much will be taken out of my bank account for the service? and are the the instructions easy to follow and how long does the whole process take?

Question #2: Can I Sue a Fraudulent Online Company for the $50 they took out of my bank?

On August 24, I had an alert from my bank that a check was presented in the form of a paper check and I never write checks...I only authorize them from over the phone for my checking account-no paper checks.

Anyways, the check said that it was made payable to: Select Platinum Credit 1-877-709-2811 for $49.99. It had my name, mailing address, email address and last four of my ssn. It also had a digitial signature from me.

Previously I shopped around for a payday loan and decided not to take it. I remember signing a digital signature so that must be where they got it from b/c a digital signature is on the check. Also on the back it has pay to the order of First Bank of Delaware (alot of payday loan companies are from them under different names CashCall, ChecknGo, ThinkCash, etc). I think the company I applied with was www.mycashnow.com.

So if you click on this link you will see the proof of how many other people they have done this to on Click Here

So can I sue them for this fraudulent activity? If so, how.

If not, what CAN i do?

Question #3: I am in need of a new debit card (bank of america)?

I am applying for a new debit card to replace the one that I have lost and the question I have is for those who have done it online at the bank of america website and what my question is it asks me to give my account number and I see it on my checking account page when I click it but do I also have to put the account number for my savings as well??? or does the savings account get linked to the card automatically? I am asking this because it has a list of what accounts I want the card to be linked and it also says additional accounts to be linked. Is that where I have to put my saving account number as well?

Question #4: HELP!!! Waiting for full confirmation ... Charity?

I recently made a donation of £50 to islamic relief. On my first attempt i got to the part where i put in my banking details and it said processed, the next step was to finalize or confirm the pledge, but when i tried to click to do it, it said "Details being processed" or something similar to those lines, but it looked more like an error message to me or some kind of glitch. I then closed the page without completing the final stage. I went back to it later on and fully completed the transaction.

But i still haven't received any confirmation via email from them, what should i do ? have i made two transactions? have i made an accidental illegitimate pledge ?

10 POINTSS !!!

Question #5: ausfis.org -- Fraudulent site?

Has anybody been scammed by this organization? I clicked on this link then somebody called me and I gave away my details. They immediately took money from my creditcard. I know it's a dumb thing, but right now I just want to know if anyone has ever given their details to them too?

I have spoken with Shirley and she was very nice. It feels bad that I trusted this lady so much and she fooled me into this.

Please help. Is there a way to have my 300euros+ back? =( I have foned my bank to cancel it but they said they cannot do so cause I have confirmed this transaction (i'm so dumb for being so trusting, hate myself so much for this).

Thank you in advance.

Question #8: Investment banking entry level position?

Question #9: Is this a scam on Craigslist?

I'm planning to put in money for a Macbook Pro being sold on craigslist.

Specs for the Macbook is 17" 2.8ghz 4gb ram 500 gb hdd Plus a good $500's worth in additional programs and here's the kicker, he's selling it for 1300 CAD.

Seller claims that he is in the Canadian Forces and is going to afganistan in the next month, (alarm bell going off)

He has taken pictures of the box and given me the serial number and part number and the only picture of the laptop is on the listing, I have checked on the apple net that it's indeed a 17" Macbook Pro. He also gave me a picture of the box and he has his name written on it.

He wants me to send my money Via Moneygram who will send it to a 3rd party website called Click and Buy. Which sounds legitimate, Buyer sends money to click and buy, seller sends product too. Transaction is done and both parties get what they want.

The mailing address is from Cold Lake military Base.

However the seller refuses to make pictures on demand (to me, that's understandable since he's in the army and he has a schedule to attend to)

He wants the money asap and I'm going to go to a Moneygram agent tomorrow morning so we can send the money to the agent who is watching the transaction

I just need reassurance that this is/isn't a scam.

and If I got scammed what do I do?

On my statement it says this:

"• The Buyer submits a payment of 1,300 $ before the merchandise will be shipped . ClickandBuy verifies the payment. Processing time varies by payment method 1 hour for Money Gram deposit and 1-5 days for bank transfer.
• When payment is received, it will be verified and secured into a non-interest bearing trust account. Payment verification process usually takes less than six hours. After payment is secured, the Seller is authorized to ship merchandise. The seller has 8h to send the buyer and ClickandBuy the tracking number of the shipment. If no tracking number is provided, a full refund is immediately sent to the buyer.
• Buyer receives the merchandise and has 3 days to inspect it. If it is complete and as described, the buyer should accept the merchandise. If he refuses the merchandise, the shipper must ship the merchandise back to the Seller at his expenses.
• After the inspection period is over, the Buyer must contact ClickandBuy at support@clickandbuy-ca.com with the result of the inspection. If the buyer refuses the merchandise, the refund will be sent to the buyer after the tracking number for the returned shipment is verified. If the merchandise is accepted, ClickandBuy submits the payment directly to the Seller within 3 business days."

Please answer this asap so I can know what I'm getting myself into....
I also live in another province, this person had his listing in a neighbor city

Here's one of his emails to me.

Hi again ,

I am in a military base now , Canadian Forces Base (CFB).Is located in Southeastern Alberta, approximately 50 kilometers north of Medicine Hat and 250 kilometers southeast of Calgary.
I hope you can understand that we will have to stick to email for now.

Obviously we need a safe way to complete this deal. The solution is a worldwide third party company called CLICKANDBUY (www.clickandbuy.com) ,they will provide assistance in handling the payment and delivery of the laptop .
With this procedure you will be able to check the laptop before I receive the payment.

I will send you more pictures with serial number and other important information .If you are interested all you have to do is to send me your FULL NAME, SHIPPING ADDRESS and I will start this transaction A.S.A.P .

Thank You ,
Samuel

Question #11: Pay Pal - is it trustworthy?

I recently went to a website and paid for an item using Pay Pal. Within a few hours, a got a suspicious unprofessional looking email telling me that I had to click on a link to update my account information. That link looked like it went to PayPal, but it actually redirected when you clicked on it. I inquired with Pay Pal, and they confirmed that someone WAS phishing.

Now today, I get a much more official looking email that requires me to verify all of my account information: login name and password, bank account info, including PINs, credit card account info. This email doesn't have a link, it uses an attached html file that you enter all the above info on, then click the "Save Profile" to send the information - all of this without even requiring you to go to the Pay Pal site on log in. Sounds like phishing again, although this html looks totally like the Pay Pal profile update page.

If this IS legit, why not tell me that I need to go to Pay Pal, log in, and update my profile. Seems like a completely bass-ackwards way of doing business to me.

Anyway, my question is this: Has anyone else experienced problems using Pay Pal, and do you think they are trustworthy?
thanks for the feedback. I have checked out the Pay Pal site and discovered they have a way of addressing this issue - you forward the suspicious email to them at spoof@paypal.com.

And I found out that Yahoo! has the same feature - forward phishing emails to phishing@cc.yahoo-inc.com
