I'm planning to put in money for a Macbook Pro being sold on craigslist.
Specs for the Macbook is 17" 2.8ghz 4gb ram 500 gb hdd Plus a good $500's worth in additional programs and here's the kicker, he's selling it for 1300 CAD.
Seller claims that he is in the Canadian Forces and is going to afganistan in the next month, (alarm bell going off)
He has taken pictures of the box and given me the serial number and part number and the only picture of the laptop is on the listing, I have checked on the apple net that it's indeed a 17" Macbook Pro. He also gave me a picture of the box and he has his name written on it.
He wants me to send my money Via Moneygram who will send it to a 3rd party website called Click and Buy. Which sounds legitimate, Buyer sends money to click and buy, seller sends product too. Transaction is done and both parties get what they want.
The mailing address is from Cold Lake military Base.
However the seller refuses to make pictures on demand (to me, that's understandable since he's in the army and he has a schedule to attend to)
He wants the money asap and I'm going to go to a Moneygram agent tomorrow morning so we can send the money to the agent who is watching the transaction
I just need reassurance that this is/isn't a scam.
and If I got scammed what do I do?
On my statement it says this:
"• The Buyer submits a payment of 1,300 $ before the merchandise will be shipped . ClickandBuy verifies the payment. Processing time varies by payment method 1 hour for Money Gram deposit and 1-5 days for bank transfer.
• When payment is received, it will be verified and secured into a non-interest bearing trust account. Payment verification process usually takes less than six hours. After payment is secured, the Seller is authorized to ship merchandise. The seller has 8h to send the buyer and ClickandBuy the tracking number of the shipment. If no tracking number is provided, a full refund is immediately sent to the buyer.
• Buyer receives the merchandise and has 3 days to inspect it. If it is complete and as described, the buyer should accept the merchandise. If he refuses the merchandise, the shipper must ship the merchandise back to the Seller at his expenses.
• After the inspection period is over, the Buyer must contact ClickandBuy at support@clickandbuy-ca.com with the result of the inspection. If the buyer refuses the merchandise, the refund will be sent to the buyer after the tracking number for the returned shipment is verified. If the merchandise is accepted, ClickandBuy submits the payment directly to the Seller within 3 business days."
Please answer this asap so I can know what I'm getting myself into....

Here's one of his emails to me.
Hi again ,
I am in a military base now , Canadian Forces Base (CFB).Is located in Southeastern Alberta, approximately 50 kilometers north of Medicine Hat and 250 kilometers southeast of Calgary.
I hope you can understand that we will have to stick to email for now.
Obviously we need a safe way to complete this deal. The solution is a worldwide third party company called CLICKANDBUY (www.clickandbuy.com) ,they will provide assistance in handling the payment and delivery of the laptop .
With this procedure you will be able to check the laptop before I receive the payment.
I will send you more pictures with serial number and other important information .If you are interested all you have to do is to send me your FULL NAME, SHIPPING ADDRESS and I will start this transaction A.S.A.P .
Thank You ,
Samuel
